Dr. Dawn Norfleet is a Lecturer in Jazz Studies at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts, University of California, Irvine. She is a multifaceted academic, composer, and educator with expertise in jazz history, African American music, and ethnomusicology. Her work bridges academic research, composition, and advocacy for equity in music education.

Dr. Norfleet’s research focuses on the intersection of hip-hop culture, African American musical traditions, and interdisciplinary studies.
