David R. Peoples is a part-time lecturer in the Music Department at the University of North Georgia (UNG), where he integrates composition into courses on theory, technology, and history. A composer, performer, and educator with a DMA in Composition from the University of Memphis (2011), he has taught for over a decade while maintaining an active creative and professional career.

Peoples’ work spans contemporary classical, jazz, and electroacoustic music. His compositions, often blending live performance with fixed media elements, have been premiered globally by ensembles such as the West Point Band, Luna Nova Music Ensemble, and Jazz Surge. He founded the 1716 Collective and Neophonic Ensemble, emphasizing innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Active in academic advocacy, he supports student composers through conference presentations, recitals, and ensemble commissions. His creative process is rooted in nature, composing on a forest-surrounded balcony in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Published works are available through Bluesilhouettes Music and UNC Jazz Press.
Labels and collaborators include Space Bear Records, Navona Records, and Ravello Records, with albums exploring themes of mythology, cosmic narratives, and cultural fusion.
