Dawn Cox serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education within the College of Education at Lamar University, where she contributes to teacher preparation programs following a career in K-12 education.
Her academic credentials include:
- Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies with an Emphasis in Early Childhood from Texas Tech University (1993)
- Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University (2018)
Dr. Cox's research and teaching focus on educational leadership, elementary mathematics education, and early childhood development. Her six years as Elementary Math Coordinator for Lubbock-Cooper ISD and classroom teaching experience in LISD and LCISD provide practical foundations for her academic work, emphasizing effective instructional strategies and leadership development in elementary education settings. During her coordinator role, she simultaneously taught undergraduate courses for the LCU School of Education, directly connecting field experience with teacher training.
