Alyson Mitchell serves as a Professional Development Facilitator and Senior Lecturer in the Teacher Education Department at Texas Tech University's College of Education. She is also the site coordinator for Tech Teach and maintains a long-standing affiliation with the university as both an alumna and faculty member.
Her professional expertise centers on literacy education and teacher development. With 10 years of K-2 classroom teaching experience in Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) followed by 5 years as a Literacy Collaborative Literacy Coach for LISD, she brings extensive practical knowledge to her role. At Texas Tech, she has taught Language Literacy courses for 11 years while mentoring future educators through their professional growth.
Mitchell holds a Masters in Language Literacy (1998) and a Bachelor of Science (1994), both earned at Texas Tech University where she has resided since her undergraduate studies. Her work emphasizes practical application in early childhood literacy and teacher preparation.
Her contributions focus on developing teacher competencies through the Tech Teach program and classroom instruction. As a site coordinator, she oversees field placements and supports the integration of theory and practice for aspiring educators.
Mitchell maintains an active presence in the College of Education through social media channels and is based in Education Building, Room 154, where she continues to shape future teaching professionals.
