Dr. Dawn Apgar is an Associate Professor and Director of the BSW Program at Seton Hall University's Department of Social Work and Public Administration. She holds a PhD and MSW from Rutgers University and a BA in Psychology from Bucknell University. Prior to academia, she served as Deputy Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Human Services (2000-2017), overseeing divisions managing developmental disabilities, mental health, and disability services. Her research focuses on social work pedagogy, licensure, ethics, and the integration of Catholic Social Thought into education.
