معرفی
David Saiang is a Professor at Luleå University of Technology specializing in Mining and Rock Engineering. He is affiliated with the Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering, specifically within the Division of Mining and Geotechnical Engineering. His work bridges traditional mining engineering with particle physics research through collaborations on the ESSνSB (European Spallation Source Neutrino Super Beam) experiment.
Professor Saiang's research spans two distinct but connected fields:
- Mining and Rock Engineering: Focusing on underground construction, stability analysis of large caverns, and rock mechanics
- Particle Physics Support: Providing engineering expertise for underground neutrino detector facilities
His recent publications demonstrate significant contributions to both fields, with conference papers on underground cavern stability and journal articles on neutrino oscillation analysis. The neutrino research particularly highlights innovative applications of Graph Neural Networks for event classification in particle detectors.
Regarding academic service, Professor Saiang maintains an active research profile with multiple publications in 2024-2025. His work on the ESSνSB project represents a valuable interdisciplinary contribution where rock engineering expertise enables fundamental physics research. He can be contacted at david.saiang@ltu.se or by phone at 0920-493407, and is based in room T3362 in Luleå.
