David Newhouse is an Associate Professor at the School of Business at Trent University and Chair of the Chaney Wenjack School of Indigenous Studies. He is Onondaga from the Six Nations of the Grand River community and has held significant administrative roles, including founding Principal of Peter Gzowski College. He co-chairs the Trent Aboriginal Education Council and contributes to national Indigenous policy and health research initiatives.

Notable professional leadership includes founding editorship of the CANDO Journal of Aboriginal Economic Development, membership on the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples' Policy Team, and a role as Science Officer for CIHR's Aboriginal Peoples Health research committee. He has also contributed to fisheries policy and national benchmarking frameworks.
