David Moyer

Dr. David Moyer is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of New England’s College of Dental Medicine. He is affiliated with Mercy Hospital and Maine Medical Center, and actively participates in the Portland Free Clinic and Cleft Lip & Palate Clinic. His clinical expertise spans oral and maxillofacial surgery, anesthesia, and related specialties.

Education:

• BS in Biology, Muhlenberg College (1979)
• DDS, Temple University Dental School (1983, with honors)
• MD, University of Nebraska Medical Center (1987, with honors)

Research & Clinical Interests: Dr. Moyer focuses on orthognathic surgery, cleft lip and palate surgery, dental implants, bone grafting, dentoalveolar surgery, and anesthesia. His work integrates surgical precision with patient-centered care, particularly in complex craniofacial conditions.

Awards & Recognition:

• Inducted into the American College of Surgeons as a Fellow (2013)
• Board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery (1991, recertified 1999 and 2009)

Teaching & Service: Dr. Moyer has taught at the University of New England and delivered lectures nationally. He is an ACLS instructor and holds leadership roles in professional organizations such as the Maine Dental Association and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

Clinical Affiliations: His work extends to both academic and community settings, including surgical leadership in Maine’s healthcare institutions.
