Dr. David McGrane is a Professor and Department Head of Political Studies at St. Thomas More College, University of Saskatchewan. His research focuses on Canadian political parties, social democracy, electoral behavior, and federalism. He holds a Ph.D. from Carleton University (2007), an M.A. from York University (2000), and a B.A. from the University of Regina (1999).
His work includes over 40 publications, including award-winning books such as The New NDP: Moderation, Modernization, and Political Marketing (2019). Key research areas include Saskatchewan politics, the New Democratic Party’s political strategy, and federal-provincial relations. His SSHRC-funded project compares social democracy in Quebec and Saskatchewan.

Teaching responsibilities include courses on Canadian federalism, provincial politics, and the politics of diversity.
