Charles Smith is an Associate Professor of Political Studies at STM College. His research focuses on Canadian and international political economy, public law, and labour unions, with a particular emphasis on federal and provincial public policy. He holds a B.A. from the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), and both an M.A. and PhD from York University.
Smith’s academic work spans book publications and peer-reviewed articles, including co-edited volumes such as Canada's foremost labour studies journal Labour/Le Travail and The Transformation of Provincial Politics. His research examines themes like neoliberalism’s impact on provincial politics, labour law, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
His teaching responsibilities include courses on public law, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and global political economy. He also serves on administrative and professional committees, contributing to institutional governance and community engagement.
