Dr. David McGrane is a Professor of Political Studies at St. Thomas More College, University of Saskatchewan. He specializes in Canadian political parties, social democracy, political theory, and electoral behavior. His research has produced nearly 40 academic works, including the award-winning The New NDP: Moderation, Modernization, and Political Marketing (2019).

Research Focus: Explores social democracy's evolution in Canada, federalism, Quebec politics, and Saskatchewan's political culture. Recent work analyzes the New Democratic Party's strategic modernization and voter behavior in provincial elections.
Awards & Recognition:
- Donald Smiley Prize (2019) for best Canadian government/politics book
Community Engagement: Served on the Saskatoon Environmental Advisory Committee, Saskatoon Open Door Society Board, and as Saskatchewan NDP President. Current roles include Policy Fellow at the Broadbent Institute and former Prairie Political Science Association president.
Teaching: Instructs courses on Canadian democracy, provincial politics, political marketing, and federalism.
