Loleen Berdahl is a Professor of Political Studies at the University of Saskatchewan and Executive Director of the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy (2020–present). Previously, she served as Head of the Political Studies Department (2016–2020). Her research focuses on institutional and cultural factors shaping public attitudes, Canadian federalism, regionalism, and career mentorship. She co-authored Work Your Career: Get What You Want From Your Social Sciences or Humanities PhD (2018) and contributes to University Affairs' Skills Agenda column and her Substack blog Academia Made Easier.
Education: B.A. (Honours) in Political Studies from the University of Saskatchewan, Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Calgary.
Research Interests: Public policy, political behavior, Canadian federalism, indigenous governance, and academic career development. Her work bridges scholarship with practical mentorship, emphasizing career skills in academia.
Awards: University of Saskatchewan Master Teacher Award, Canadian Political Science Association Teaching Excellence Prize, American Political Science Association Mentoring Award, and others recognizing her teaching and leadership.
