Professor David Johnston KC is an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh and a Queen's Counsel (QC) practising at the Scottish Bar. Previously, he served as Regius Professor of Civil Law at the University of Cambridge from 1993 to 1999, specializing in Roman law, legal history, and comparative law. His current practice focuses on public law (including human rights) and commercial law.
He has authored four influential books: Roman Law in Context, Prescription and Limitation, The Roman Law of Trusts, and On a Singular Book of Cervidius Scaevola.
