David Eisner is a British Heart Foundation Professor of Cardiac Physiology at The University of Manchester, with a distinguished career spanning multiple institutions and leadership roles in physiology and cardiac research. He previously served as Professor of Cardiac Physiology at the Department of Medicine (1999-), Professor of Veterinary Biology at the University of Liverpool (1990-1999), and held academic positions at University College London and the University of Maryland.

Eisner's research focuses on cardiac physiology, particularly calcium signaling in cardiac muscle. His work has advanced understanding of cellular mechanisms in heart function and disease. He has contributed extensively to editorial leadership, including roles as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology (2007-).
