David Dietz is a Research Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Mexico (UNM). He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics from Indiana University, Bloomington (1975), alongside M.A. and M.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics, respectively. His career spans roles in federal physics research and leadership, including Principal Research Physicist and Leader of the High Power Microwave Modeling & Simulation Team at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Albuquerque, NM.

Dr. Dietz’s research focuses on the application of mathematics to engineering challenges, including network behavior, complex system dynamics, electromagnetics, and uncertainty quantification in computer codes. He is affiliated with the AFOSR/AFRL Center of Excellence on the Science of Electronics in Extreme Electromagnetic Environments. His prior work includes collaborations with Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories, as well as adjunct teaching roles at UNM.
