David Bohnert is a Professor and Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at Wayne State College (WSC) since 2021. He also directs the Honors Program and Interdisciplinary Studies. Prior to his deanship, he served as Chair of the Department of Music, Professor of Music, and Director of Bands at WSC for 25 years. An active performer and clinician, Bohnert has conducted performances and workshops globally, working with musicians across all skill levels.
- Education: DMA in Trumpet Performance from University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, M.M. in Trumpet Performance from University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and BME/B.M. in Music Education and Trumpet Performance from Southeast Missouri State University.
His research interests and professional work span music performance, music education, interdisciplinary academic programs, and band conducting. As an educator, he has focused on enhancing pedagogical practices through global engagement and performance clinics.

Bohnert’s administrative responsibilities include leadership over academic departments, interdisciplinary initiatives, and honors programming within the School of Arts and Humanities. His career combines scholarly administration with hands-on mentorship and artistic performance.
