Karl Meyers serves as Assistant Professor and Symphonic Winds Director in Biola University's Conservatory of Music, where he directs instrumental studies and music education programs, conducts the symphonic winds ensemble, and teaches music education courses.
His academic credentials include:
- Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Wind Conducting, University of Cincinnati
- Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Education, Arizona State University
- Bachelor of Music Education (BME), The University of Northwestern
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Music Composition and Music Education, The University of Northwestern
Dr. Meyers specializes in music education with emphasis on wind band pedagogy and psychological aspects of music learning. His research focuses on mindset and motivation theories applied to instrumental instruction, developed during his master's studies at Arizona State University. He actively shares expertise through professional development workshops at district campuses and the Arizona Music Educators Conference, and has conducted multi-year masterclasses at the Many Farms Fine Arts Festival.
Prior to Biola, he served as interim assistant director of bands at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and as instrumental music teacher and fine arts department chair at Benjamin Franklin High School. His conducting mentorship includes work with renowned conductors Allan MacMurray, H. Robert Reynolds, Craig Kirchhoff, and Frank Ticheli.
