Darragh McGee is a Senior Lecturer in the Department for Health at the University of Bath, affiliated with multiple interdisciplinary centers including the Centre for Development Studies and the Centre for Sport, Physical Activity and Health Equality (SPHERE). He joined the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2015 after completing his PhD at the University of Toronto, Canada.
His research focuses on the globalisation of sports gambling, digital surveillance technologies' impact on youth, and youth livelihoods in the Global South. Key projects include investigations funded by the British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, and Global Challenges Research Fund. Notable achievements include being named a BBC/AHRC New Generation Thinker in 2020, leading to media contributions like BBC Radio 3's Free Thinking and CBC podcasts.

Recent publications explore athlete data ownership, maturity selection biases in youth football, and governance challenges in sport policy. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to reducing inequalities and promoting health.
