Harry Bowles is a Lecturer in the Department for Health at the University of Bath, affiliated with the Centre for Qualitative Research and the Centre for Sport, Physical Activity and Health Equality (SPHERE). He holds a PhD in Sociology of Sport from Cardiff Metropolitan University (2014) and a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Exercise Science. His research focuses on youth identities in sport/exercise settings, career athlete lifestyles, and qualitative methodologies like ethnography. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and authored the Philip Abrams Memorial Prize-nominated book *Days in the Dirt*.

- Nonformal education through sport interventions
- Ethics of qualitative research
- Data economy impacts on sport governance
- Lifestyle capitalism and physical education
Recent work includes the *Access Sport - Building Stronger Communities* project (2023-2024) and publications on sport-based employability strategies, data surveillance in sport, and pandemic impacts on youth employment. Awards include:
