Dr. Carly McKay is an Associate Professor in the Department for Health at the University of Bath. Her research focuses on sport injury prevention, behavior change, and epidemiology. She holds a PhD in Kinesiology from Western University (2011), an MSc in Sport Medicine from the University of Calgary (2008), and a BKin from the same institution (2006). Dr. McKay leads multiple high-impact projects including the Women’s Rugby Injury Surveillance Project and RFU-Activate programme development. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals through injury prevention initiatives in sports.
Her research portfolio includes over 145 publications and 14 active/finished projects funded by organizations like the Rugby Football Union. Key areas of contribution are injury surveillance systems, behavior change interventions, and cost-benefit analysis of injury prevention strategies in elite sports.
