Billy Senington is a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Surrey's School of Biosciences. He holds a BSc (Hons), Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE), and a PhD. His academic career includes roles at St. Mary’s University, Bournemouth University, and the University of Surrey, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Sports Science, Sports Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, and Strength and Conditioning.
His research focuses on biomechanical risk factors for lower back pain in elite athletes, particularly cricket fast bowlers, using innovative inertial sensor technologies. He has collaborated with elite sports organizations across football, tennis, rugby, motor racing, and cricket, bridging research and practical applications through 16 years of coaching experience. His work has been published in journals like Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing and BMJ Open Sport & Exercise Medicine.
He currently organizes modules such as Introduction to Biomechanics, Sports and Exercise Biomechanics, and Musculoskeletal Injury and Rehabilitation. His teaching emphasizes translating research into real-world sports performance and injury prevention strategies.
