معرفی
Daniele Ferretti is a Professor of Structural Engineering (ICAR/09) at the Department of Engineering and Architecture (DIA), University of Parma, where he has been a faculty member since 1997. He holds a PhD and a degree with honors in Structural Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin. His academic journey includes roles as Researcher (1997–2004), Associate Professor (2004–2024), and full Professor since 2004. He was a Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University in 2000.
His educational background includes:
- Degree with Honours in Structural Engineering, Polytechnic University of Turin, 1992
- PhD in Structural Engineering, Polytechnic University of Turin, 1996 (Thesis: 'On the deformability in service of one-dimensional reinforced concrete elements')
Ferretti's research centers on the structural behavior of reinforced concrete and masonry structures, with a strong emphasis on cracking, non-linear analysis, FRP reinforcement, and the modeling of historical and monumental buildings. His work bridges theoretical analysis and practical application, particularly in seismic vulnerability assessment and sustainable construction materials. He has contributed significantly to the understanding of structural safety in heritage infrastructure and modern building systems.
His recent publications (2024) reflect a consistent focus on masonry structures, green materials, seismic risk, and structural rehabilitation. Themes include geopolymer mortars, tunnel linings, post-tensioning bond, conservative interventions, and GIS-based risk management—highlighting interdisciplinary approaches combining civil engineering, materials science, and geospatial technologies.
His professional recognition includes:
- Member, Seismic Technical Scientific Committee, Emilia-Romagna Region (2009–present)
- Member, CNI Structures Commission (2012–2016)
- Member, FIB TG 7.7 'Sustainable Concrete Masonry Components and Structures' (2016–present)
- Member, University Building Commission (2014–2023)
Ferretti has been actively involved in research and professional outreach. He has led approximately ten research projects funded by public and private entities, focusing on structural performance and seismic safety. Additionally, he has delivered over 50 refresher courses for engineers, architects, and surveyors on structural and seismic behavior. His teaching portfolio includes core courses such as Reinforced Concrete, Bridges, and Assessment of Structural Safety across Civil Engineering and Architecture programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
His practical expertise extends to high-profile structural assessments, including the Pantheon in Paris, the Adolphe Bridge (Luxembourg), the Petruzzelli and Verdi Theatres, and several historic castles and schools in Italy—demonstrating a strong commitment to preserving cultural heritage through engineering excellence.
