Lidia La Mendola

Lidia La Mendola is a Full Professor at the Department of Engineering, University of Palermo. She earned her PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Naples Federico II in 1992 following her Civil Engineering degree from the University of Palermo. Her research focuses on seismic analysis, structural reinforcement, and innovative materials for building resilience.

Primary research interests include:

• Non-linear analysis of multi-storey frames in seismic zones
• Vulnerability assessment of historic masonry structures
• Fiber-reinforced concrete applications
• Structural health monitoring systems

Her recent publications (2024-2025) primarily examine FRCM composites for masonry retrofitting, hybrid beam behavior, and decision tools for seismic resource allocation, demonstrating consistent focus on experimental validation and practical engineering solutions.

She coordinated the Master's program in Building Systems Engineering (2015-2022) and the PhD program in Structural Engineering (2008-2012), currently serving on doctoral committees. She leads projects through the RELUIS research network focusing on bridge safety and seismic applications.
