Dr. Daniel Wilkenfeld is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing with a joint appointment in the Department of History and Philosophy of Science. He is a permanent fellow at the Center for Philosophy of Science and the Center for Bioethics and Health Law.

Dr. Wilkenfeld’s research spans philosophical foundations of scientific understanding, bioethics, and disability ethics. His work bridges empirical psychology with philosophical inquiry, examining metaphorical understanding, informed consent, and ethical frameworks for autism research.
Recent publications focus on contextualism in disability ethics, transformative healthcare research, and cross-cultural wisdom perception. His empirical collaborations include psychology departments at UC Berkeley and Pittsburgh.
