Daniel S. Nagin is the Lester Hamburg University Professor of Public Policy and Statistics at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy, where he has served as Associate Dean of Faculty since 2006. He holds affiliations as a Research Affiliate at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law and as a Max Planck Law Research Fellow.
- Ph.D. in 1976 from Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy
Research Themes: His work examines the evolution of criminal and antisocial behaviors over the life course, the deterrent effects of penalties on illegal behavior, and statistical methods for longitudinal data analysis. His interdisciplinary research bridges criminology, behavioral economics, and policy evaluation.
