Daniel J. Farris

Daniel J. Farris is a MECA Instructor at VanderCook College of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at Northwestern University. His dual roles involve teaching music education and conducting ensembles. He holds degrees from James Madison University and the University of Illinois in Music Education.

His professional experience includes leadership positions at Illinois State University, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Disney's Collegiate All-Star Band. He has extensive experience directing bands for high-profile events like the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Bands of America Nationals.

Active in professional organizations, Farris is a member of the National Band Association and College Band Directors National Association, and serves as an advisor for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. His expertise spans ensemble direction, music education pedagogy, and community music engagement.
