Daniel J. Farris

Daniel J. Farris is a Senior Lecturer at the Bienen School of Music, Northwestern University, where he serves as the Director of Athletic Bands. He conducts the "Wildcat" Marching Band and Concert Band, and teaches courses in conducting and music education.

• Education: MMusEd from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; undergraduate degree in Music Education from James Madison University.

Research and Professional Interests: Farris's work focuses on conducting pedagogy, ensemble performance, and music education, particularly in the context of athletic and collegiate band programs. His leadership extends to directing and organizing performances at major national and international events.

Professional Roles and Achievements: Prior to Northwestern, he held positions as Assistant Director of Bands at Illinois State University and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and directed the Walt Disney World Collegiate All-Star Band. Bands under his leadership have appeared at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Bands of America Championships, Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and various bowl games.
