Dr Daniel Gover is a Senior Lecturer in British Politics at Queen Mary University of London's School of Politics and International Relations. He holds a BA from the University of Nottingham, MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and PhD from Queen Mary University of London. His research focuses on British politics with particular emphasis on the UK Parliament, constitutional reform, and devolution.
Dr Gover's research examines parliamentary procedures, legislative influence, and constitutional innovations. His current project investigates the operation and impact of private members' bills in the Westminster Parliament. Previous work includes analyses of 'English Votes for English Laws' and the UK Parliament's policy impact on government legislation.
His publications demonstrate consistent focus on parliamentary processes and constitutional reforms, with recent work exploring the intersection of religion and policy-making. He has provided expert testimony to parliamentary committees and his research has been cited in policy forums.
Dr Gover currently supervises PhD student Christopher Mullins-Silverstein and welcomes supervision in areas related to the UK Parliament, parliaments generally, UK constitution, and religion and politics. His research has been supported by ESRC funding.
