Professor Meg Russell is a leading academic in British and Comparative Politics, serving as Director of the Constitution Unit at University College London (UCL) and a Professor. Her career began at UCL in 1998 as a Senior Research Fellow, with notable policy roles including advising Robin Cook as Leader of the House of Commons (2001-03) and contributing to parliamentary reform committees. She has held editorial roles at Political Quarterly and Parliamentary Affairs and was a key commentator on parliament and Brexit through her UK in a Changing Europe Fellowship.
Her research focuses on the British parliament, bicameralism, constitutional standards, and Brexit's impact. Major projects include analyses of parliamentary influence on policy, devolution, and legislative reform. She has advised UK parliamentary committees and international bodies, emphasizing democratic governance and institutional effectiveness.
