Daniel C. Baumgart is Professor of Medicine at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry with joint appointments in Computer Science. He directs gastroenterology research and leads Alberta's first digital big-data patient registry.
His research focuses on:
- Innovative therapies for inflammatory bowel diseases
- AI applications in precision medicine
- Digital health system integration
- International health data collaboration
Dr. Baumgart has served as Principal Investigator for over 200 clinical trials and directs the NSERC-funded FD2D program on digital transformation.
