James Ashton

Dr James Ashton is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, holding affiliations with the Institute for Life Sciences, BiOmics, Human Genetics and Genomic Medicine, and the Institute of Developmental Sciences. His research focuses on precision medicine for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), utilizing genomic and big data approaches to transform pediatric patient care through personalized diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

His primary research interests center on Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Paediatrics, Big Data analytics, Genomics, and Nutritional science. This work spans clinical, translational, and basic science domains, with emphasis on developing data-driven tools for disease prediction, stratification, and treatment optimization. Current projects integrate whole exome sequencing, methylome analysis, and machine learning to address critical gaps in pediatric IBD management.
