Dan Stearns is an Assistant Professor of Acting in the Department of Theatre & Film at the University of Mississippi, housed within the College of Liberal Arts. He holds an MFA from the Shakespeare Theatre's Academy for Classical Acting at George Washington University and dual degrees from the University of Chicago, where he also taught Humanities and Theater. His expertise spans acting for stage/screen, Shakespearean performance, and Russian drama.
Education: MFA in Acting (George Washington University, 2010), BA and MA in Humanities/Theater (University of Chicago). Professional experience includes roles at Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, and Chicago Shakespeare Theater. He has appeared in TV shows like Chicago Fire and Killing Kennedy, and films such as Through the Trees (Best Short award). Awards include an RTCC Award for God of Carnage and recognition for his translation of Leonid Andreev's He Who Gets Slapped.
Teaching focuses on classical and contemporary acting techniques, with courses like 'Acting Shakespeare' and 'Screen Acting.' Active in professional organizations (AEA, SAG-AFTRA, SAFD), he also maintains a robust industrial/commercial acting portfolio. Recent projects include the web series Unfocused and voiceover work for AT&T and Motorola.
