معرفی
Dalia Malkova is a Senior Lecturer in Human Nutrition at the School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing, within the College of Medical Veterinary & Life Sciences (MVLS) at the University of Glasgow. She has held this position since starting her independent academic career at the university in 2000, following postdoctoral work at Loughborough University and a Visiting Scientist role at the Norwich Institute of Food Research.
Dr. Malkova's educational background includes:
- MSc in Biochemistry from Vilnius State University
- PhD in Biochemistry from Lomonosov Moscow University
Her research focuses on human intervention studies examining how dietary and physical activity modifications affect energy balance components, appetite regulation, body composition, and muscle function. Dr. Malkova has particular expertise in studying obesity, cardiovascular risk factors, and nutritional interventions for special populations including those with phenylketonuria. Her work often investigates the interactions between macronutrient composition, exercise timing, and physiological responses.
Analysis of Dr. Malkova's recent publications reveals a consistent focus on nutrition and exercise interventions for weight management and metabolic health. Her work frequently examines appetite regulation mechanisms, body composition changes, and cardiovascular risk factors in overweight and obese populations. A notable trend is her investigation of specific dietary components like beta-glucan, krill oil, and n-3 fatty acids in conjunction with exercise interventions.
Dr. Malkova currently serves as primary supervisor for four PhD students and secondary supervisor for two others. Her teaching responsibilities include leading the Sports and Exercise Nutrition specialization of the Human Nutrition MSc programme and coordinating multiple undergraduate and postgraduate nutrition courses.
Among her current research projects are investigations into the effects of alternate day fasting with krill oil supplementation, exercise timing relative to phenylketonuria meals, and the impact of beta-glucan during calorie restriction on appetite regulation.
