Dr. Craig Whitsed is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Curtin University, within the Faculty of Humanities. He serves as Director and Research Course Coordinator for the Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Innovative Learning and Teaching. His research focuses on higher education internationalisation, curriculum internationalisation, and academic staff engagement. He holds fellowships from Advance HE, Curtin Academy, and the Murdoch University Learning Excellence Academy. Notable roles include Co-Executive Editor for Higher Education Research and Development (2017–2020), Visiting Fellowships at the University of Groningen (Netherlands), and Visiting Scholar at Boston College (USA).
Whitsed’s academic journey includes a PhD from Murdoch University (2016) on adjunct English teachers in Japanese higher education internationalisation contexts. He has taught in Australia, the UK, Japan, and led staff development initiatives. Awards include the 2018 Curtin Heroes award and a 2015 Best Rapid Fire Presentation for teaching innovations.
Research projects include leading the COALAR initiative to network Latin American higher education institutions and co-leading studies on faculty engagement post-pandemic. He has delivered over 30 keynotes and workshops globally, including engagements in Argentina, Brazil, and Indonesia, emphasizing curriculum internationalisation strategies and educational innovation.
