Cesar Ortega-Sanchez is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at Curtin University. He joined in 2005 and serves as Academic Lead of the Engineering Foundation Year, overseeing 700+ engineering students annually. His academic journey includes a Computer Systems Engineering degree from the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Mexico), an MSc in Digital Systems from Brunel University (UK), and a PhD in Electronics from the University of York (UK).
Research & Teaching: Focuses on embedded systems, bio-inspired architectures, intelligent systems, and curriculum design. Supervised over 100 theses and published >60 papers in Electronics and Engineering Education. Advocates for student employability, winning a 2015 national teaching award.
Affiliations & Roles: Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Curtin Academy, Senior IEEE Member, and CDIO representative at Curtin. Active in consultancy for curriculum design, assessment frameworks, and capstone projects. Regular keynote speaker at higher education conferences.
