Craig Greenham is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Human Kinetics. His research focuses on sports history, cultural impacts of sports, and psychological aspects of athletic participation. Notably, he has examined team trauma recovery in hockey, media representations of athletes, and the socioeconomic roles of professional sports leagues. Greenham has collaborated with organizations like the Leddy Library to advance academic discourse on Canadian sports history.
His work explores intersections between sports and broader societal themes such as nationalism, media ethics, and historical memory. Recent projects include analyzing the Swift Current Broncos’ cultural relationship with hockey and critiquing the Canadian Football League’s reliance on nostalgic narratives to secure public funding. Greenham frequently engages with media on contemporary issues like sports betting addiction and MLB’s response to doping scandals.
Greenham co-edits the Journal of Canadian Baseball and has presented research findings to entities like ESPN and Rogers Media. He actively involves students in his research, offering them professional insights through field visits and presentations to industry leaders.
