Courtney Beggs serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Writing Program at Curry College, teaching composition, creative writing, and literature courses since joining the institution in 2018. She also holds the position of Co-Managing Editor for ABO: Interactive Journal for Women in the Arts, 1640-1830, and previously taught American/British literature and Women's Studies at Bridgewater State University and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Her academic credentials include a PhD in English from Texas A&M University with specialization in Restoration and 18th-Century British Literature and Culture, and an MA in English with a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies from Bowling Green State University.
Dr. Beggs' research centers on women's writing and material culture in 17th-18th century Britain, with publications in Restoration: Studies in English Literary Culture, 1660-1700 and Gender and Space in British Literature, 1660-1820. Her current scholarship examines rhetorical frameworks in education policy, media literacy, and information literacy within American educational contexts, reflecting an evolving focus toward contemporary pedagogical challenges.
Outside academia, she maintains an active lifestyle through hiking New Hampshire's 48 4,000-foot peaks, obstacle course racing, trail running, and triathlon competitions.
