Corinne Geering holds a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Transformative Change from a Social Science and Humanities Perspective at the Department of Economic, Social and Environmental History and the Linz Institute for Transformative Change (LIFT_C) at Johannes Kepler University Linz since February 2025. Her academic trajectory spans European institutions with a focus on historical and socio-ecological transitions.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy completed across Zurich, Bern, and Prague, followed by a Master's in World Arts and Slavic Studies at Bern and Fribourg. She earned her PhD in Eastern European History from Justus Liebig University Giessen in 2018, where she was a doctoral fellow at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) under the Excellence Initiative.
Geering's research centers on historical transformation processes, with particular emphasis on regional development in Europe, rural and structurally weak regions undergoing (de-)industrialization, and energy transition dynamics. Her current habilitation thesis explores the history of regional development in Europe, while additional projects investigate the interplay between crafts, heritage, and socio-economic transformation.
Her scientific recognition includes prestigious awards such as the Dissertation Prize from the Association of German Historians' International History Working Group and the Collegium Carolinum Essay Prize, reflecting the impact of her scholarship in Eastern European historical studies.

Her grant portfolio demonstrates strong third-party funding capacity across European research frameworks.
Her institutional engagement extends to teaching positions at University of Leipzig and Humboldt University of Berlin during her tenure at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO), where she led the interdisciplinary junior research group 'East Central Europe in Comparison' from 2018-2025.
