Professor Corinna Peniston-Bird is a Professor of Gender and Cultural History at Lancaster University's Department of History, part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on gender, cultural memory, and 20th-century conflicts, particularly WWII and WWI, with emphasis on memorialization, home front dynamics, and women's roles in war efforts. She leads courses such as HIST 288, 348, and 477, supervises PhD theses, and engages in community heritage projects like Migration Stories North West. Her work bridges academic research and public engagement through projects like the Regional Heritage Centre. Key affiliations include the Centre for Gender Studies and Dynamics of Memories research groups. She has advised on heritage initiatives and participated in international conferences on war studies and memory. Students under her supervision include Thomas Brosset, Anna Drury, and others.
