Dr. Corinna Patterson is a Lecturer in Sociology and Equalities Lead at Bangor University's School of History, Law and Social Sciences. She holds a Senior HEA Fellowship (2023) and has led initiatives such as the Festival of Social Science (2020-2023) and the Places of Climate Change Research Centre (PLoCC). Her research focuses on globalization, environmental sociology, and social inequalities, with a particular emphasis on climate justice and community empowerment. She has supervised multiple PhD students exploring topics such as the Belt and Road Initiative's environmental impacts and dyslexia's role in social stratification.
Dr. Patterson earned her PhD from Bangor University (2011) with a study on globalization's impact on Welsh communities. She previously worked in mental health advocacy and has collaborated with organizations like WISERD and KESS II on projects linking energy schemes to community benefits. Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate modules on sociology, identity, and climate crisis politics.
