Dr. Liz Morris-Webb is an Honorary Research Fellow at Bangor University's School of Ocean Sciences and concurrently serves as a full-time Senior Researcher at Nordland Research Institute (Norway). She holds a BSc in Marine Biology (Hons, 2002), MSc in Marine Environmental Protection (Distinction, 2005), and PhD (2021) from Bangor University, focusing on human dimensions of marine environments.
Her research examines marine conservation, ocean literacy, and human-nature connections through interdisciplinary approaches combining marine ecology and social science. Primary interests include:
- Public understanding of coastal risks (e.g., tidal safety)
- Marine resource management strategies
- Psychosocial aspects of human-ocean relationships
- Transdisciplinary methodologies for marine policy
Publications demonstrate strong focus on applied marine social science, with recent work emphasizing ocean literacy interventions, tidal risk communication, and marine identity frameworks. Her research consistently bridges ecological data and social behavior analysis.
She has secured funding including a KESS 2 scholarship for her PhD and contributed to projects like Ecostructure, Tidal Cut Off, and Sustainable Fisheries Wales. Actively leads the Bangor University Wellbeing Research Group and co-founded the Places of Climate Change (PloCC) initiative. Previously directed Marine Ecological Solutions (2005-present), providing scientific diving consultancy.
