Dr. Sopan Patil is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Environmental and Natural Sciences, Bangor University. He leads research on catchment hydrology, climate change impacts, and ecosystem resilience. His work spans global river basins, with a focus on Wales and East Africa. He coordinates international collaborations, including the TRANSFOR-M forestry program and the PloCC Research Centre.
Education: PhD in Hydrology (Georgia Tech, 2011), MS and BE in Civil Engineering (Georgia Tech and Mumbai University). Professional memberships include Fellowships with HEA and RGS, and roles in AGU and NERC peer review.
Research focuses on hydrological modeling, land-use change effects, and natural flood management. Key projects include the PONDERFUL initiative on pond ecosystems and the Mara River Basin studies.
