Colleen R. Hall-Patton, PhD, is an Instructor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She holds a doctoral degree in Sociology from UNLV (2004), along with a B.A. and Master’s in Anthropology from UCLA. Previously, she worked for 25 years in information systems, focusing on financial applications for local governments before transitioning to academia in 2003. She has taught sociology and women’s studies at UNLV, CSN, NSC, and the University of Phoenix.
Her research interests include arts, history, gender, globalization, cultural studies, celebrity studies, and cultural change. Outside academia, she is an avid quilter, participates in the Sweet Adelines barbershop chorus, and enjoys outdoor activities.
