Colin Grey is an Associate Professor at Queen’s University’s Faculty of Law, joining in 2019. He specializes in immigration law, refugee law, and administrative law, with additional expertise in legal theory and international migration governance. Prior to Queen’s, he taught at the Université du Québec à Montréal and served as legal counsel at Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board. He clerked at the Ontario Court of Appeal and holds degrees from Dartmouth College (BA), University of Toronto (LLB), and New York University (LLM, JSD).
Education highlights include graduating as the Silver Medallist at U of T Law and receiving the Dean’s Key, alongside being an Arthur T. Vanderbilt Scholar at NYU. His research explores public law theory in migration contexts, blending legal philosophy with practical governance challenges.
Recent contributions include co-editing a special issue of the Dalhousie Law Journal on Canadian Immigration Law (2019) and co-authoring Migration Law in Canada (2015). He is also co-editor of Canada’s sole casebook on immigration and refugee law.
Professional achievements include organizing the 2018 Conference of Canadian Immigration Law Scholars. His teaching focuses on developing online courses for Queen’s Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law, emphasizing interdisciplinary methods for doctoral students.
