Coe Lapossy is an Assistant Professor of Painting in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Memphis. Prior to this position, they served as a Lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2017-2019) and have been a visiting critic at Smith College, Rhodes College, and Bennington College.
Their educational background includes:
- B.F.A. in Studio Art, Painting from Kent State University (2006)
- M.F.A. from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2013)
Lapossy's research and artistic practice centers on contemporary painting and site-specific installations. They explore themes of identity and freedom, as reflected in their Advanced Studio Seminar "Who Am I To Feel So Free?". Their work has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Howard Art Project, and Penn State University, with site-specific creations for Elsewhere Living Museum and Flansburg Architects Artist Residency Program.

- Elsewhere Artist Residency in Greensboro, NC
In addition to studio practice, Lapossy curates and writes for Tailgate Projects (a mobile gallery) and chaired the 2019 CAA Conference Panel "The Practice and the Other Practice: The Relationship Between Making Art and Teaching". They actively mentor students through studio courses and visiting critic roles across multiple institutions.
