Claude Kaufmann

Claude Kaufmann is an Adjunct Professor for Clinical Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, University of Lucerne, appointed effective March 18, 2024. He also holds an Adjunct Professor position at the University of Zurich since 2018. Dr. Kaufmann serves as Chief Physician at the Eye Clinic of the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, where he heads Switzerland's largest center for corneal transplants.

His educational background includes medical studies and doctorate at the University of Zurich. He completed his ophthalmological training at the University Eye Clinic Zurich and Triemli City Hospital Zurich. From 2004 to 2006, he pursued specialized fellowships in transplant immunology at Flinders University and anterior segment surgery at the University of Adelaide, both in South Australia. In 2010, he earned his venia legendi in ophthalmology with a focus on corneal diseases.
