Dr. Aisha Hasan serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. Board-certified in Ophthalmology with fellowship training in Corneal and External Disease, she specializes in cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and intraocular lens procedures including exchange and repositioning.
Her educational pathway includes:
- Medical Degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
- Ophthalmology Residency at Bronx Care Hospital (serving as Chief Resident in final year)
- Cornea Fellowship at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital
Dr. Hasan's research centers on surgical outcomes, corneal pathologies, novel treatments, and infectious keratitis management. Her clinical expertise spans anterior segment procedures including femtosecond laser cataract surgery, premium/toric intraocular lens implantation, penetrating and endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK & DMEK), pterygium excision, and management of Fuchs dystrophy, recurrent erosion syndrome, secondary corneal edema, and complex corneal ulcers.
