Clare Stacey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at Kent State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Her research examines long-term care systems, end-of-life practices, and emotional labor in healthcare.
She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California Davis in 2004. Her scholarly contributions include the award-winning book The Caring Self: The Work Experiences of Home Care Aides (Cornell University Press, 2011) and the edited volume Caring on the Clock (Rutgers University Press, 2015).
Research interests:
- Sociocultural dimensions of palliative and hospice care
- Structural barriers in end-of-life services
- Emotional labor in paid caregiving professions
- Healthcare inequities affecting marginalized populations
