Alison Llewellyn

Dr Alison Llewellyn is an Associate Professor - Clinical Research at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), affiliated with the HAS - Nursing and Midwifery department. She leads the Supportive, Palliative and End of Life Care (SPACE) research theme at UWE's Centre for Health and Clinical Research. Her affiliations include collaborations with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany), Balgrist University Hospital Zurich, The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust Liverpool, Dorothy House Hospice Care, and the Complex Regional Pain Syndrome International Research Consortium.

Her research focuses on palliative/end-of-life care, chronic pain management (including post-stroke shoulder pain and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), rehabilitation, and quality of life in long-term conditions. Recent projects include NHIR-funded work on therapy-led CRPS management and studies on Death Literacy and end-of-life conversations. She collaborates with NHS Trusts, hospices, and international organizations to improve care for individuals with life-limiting conditions.

Dr Llewellyn holds honorary contracts with Dorothy House Hospice and actively supervises Masters, PhD, and Professional Doctorate students researching topics like caregiving experiences and end-of-life workforce development. Her funding sources include NIHR, Versus Arthritis, and the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association.
