Brenda Breuer, Ph.D., M.P.H., is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She specializes in hepatitis, cancer, geriatrics, and pain management research, serving as principal investigator in multiple studies. Her work includes observational studies on hepatitis transmission, geriatric cognition/depression, life expectancy modeling, and biomarker development. Clinical trials focus on pain management in conditions like low back pain, multiple sclerosis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Her research has explored pain epidemiology, palliative care models, and healthcare practices through national surveys of pain physicians and oncologists. Key contributions include studies on opioid use in dementia, bisphosphonate efficacy for chronic pain, and interdisciplinary palliative care outcomes. She has authored over 80 peer-reviewed articles and a chapter in *The Neurological Basis of Pain* (2005).
Publications highlight innovations in pain assessment for frail elderly populations, including biomarker development for breast cancer and statistical models predicting geriatric survival. Recent work focuses on palliative care access, hospice enrollment patterns, and patient stratification in community-based programs.
Her collaborative projects bridge epidemiology and clinical practice, addressing unmet needs in geriatric pain management and palliative care delivery systems. Ongoing interests include advancing multidisciplinary approaches to chronic pain and improving end-of-life care through telehealth interventions.
